Running for life raises funds and awareness into third world issues. RFL was set up in 2003 by Téba Diatta who after visiting a rural community in Senegal, West Africa was inspired to do something to alleviate the poverty and suffering experienced by millions of people around the world.
Running For Life is building a community library and resource centre in the small village of Oussouye, which will enable students to study after sunset. Many homes in the community have no electricity and children have been forced to study by candlelight.
The community library will have a huge impact on the surrounding area, allowing individuals to have access to educational resources such as books and computer facilities which have not been readily available in the past.
Partner Schools
RFL has successfully linked schools in the UK with schools in Oussouye, Senegal. Equipment such as pens and basic facilities have been sent over.
Half Senegalese, Teba Diatta was interested in her father's native country from an early age. So much so that she decided to launch Running For Life, a fundraising initiative aimed at helping African children get a good education.
